Obituary For Earline M. Sanders
Earline Sanders departed this life at Baptist Memorial Hospital East on September 2, 2026. The oldest of thirteen children, Earline was born in Covington, TN, on December 11, 1934, to Lizzie Peete and Elton Peete Sr.
At an early age, Earline accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was a true woman of faith. She was a member of El Bethel Non-Denominational Church, under the leadership of her son, Pastor Jimmy Peete. She was a member of the Mother Board and served as the Women's Day chairperson. Earline was married to the late Cliff Sanders for 45 years before his passing.
Earline lived a productive, fruitful, and spiritual life. She strongly supported education and encouraged her children to attend college and pursue advanced degrees. She was a product of the Shelby County school system. After 30 years, she retired from Baptist Memorial Hospital Central as an employee in the central supply department.
Earline was the proud mother of four children: Jimmy Peete, a pastor and businessman; the late Gwendolyn Peete, a social worker; Rickey Peete, a former city councilman and political/business consultant; and Jennifer Wright, an educator. As the beloved matriarch of her family, Earline was the loving grandmother of four grandchildren and the great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, garage sales, baking cakes, and community/civic involvement. She was also a fashion diva who enjoyed dressing up in all her finery.
She was preceded in death by six siblings: Eugene Jones, Elton Peete, Jr. (Verna Lee), Annie Mae Gant, Jerry Pipkins, Frank Jones, Jr., and Dewey Jones; her daughter, Gwendolyn Peete; and her granddaughter, Melaine Brooker.
Earline leaves behind a rich legacy of love and loved ones who will continue to celebrate her life. In addition to her children, she leaves behind three sisters, Johnnie McDaniels, Deborah Anderson, and Alfredia Smith; three brothers, Maurice Jones, Larry Jones (Melinda), and Michael Jones (Anesta). In addition to her children, she leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Ernestine Peete (Rickey); four grandchildren, Dr. Marricceo Peete, Roderick Scott, Debricka Peete, and Rodney Wright; and a host of friends and relatives.
