Ms. Jo Ann and I were church friends at Christian United Baptist Church. Sister JoAnn always had a kind word or smile to share with everyone. She often volunteered for many programs, i.e.. back to school uniforms; Christmas; expungement for first time offenders; and boy's basketball team. She was a christian and she put her faith into action as she cared deeply for others and her community. She will be missed. Rest in Peace, Sister Patricia Gray and Family

My husband, son, and I were so fortunate to have volunteered at so many park clean-ups with Miss Jo Ann. Her love for the city of Memphis and its parks--especially Gooch park--were infectious. Her legacy will live on through those who continue her heartfelt work.

I met Jo Ann through the Democratic Women and found her to be a very sweet kind gentle soul. We talked many times of her plans and work with the Parks. I could tell it was very important work to her and she truly was very dedicated to it. We will miss her.
