Derrick “Pop” Anthony Staten, 60, of New Bern passed August 14, 2024.
His service is 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Mt. Calvary M.B. Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
He is survived by his sisters, Marie A. Hicks, Brooklyn, NY., Nicole Johnson, Queens, NY., Talisha Taylor, Charlotte, NC; brother, Frank Taylor, Atlanta, GA; niece, Latoya Orr, Brooklyn, NY; aunts, Rosa Lee Kinsey and Yvonne Weithers; uncle, David R. Miller; great aunt, Reather Manley; a multitude of cousins and friends.
Masks are required.
Derek I've known you for 30 yrs or more. You were always a joy to be around. We met at Good Shepherd and have always been friends.You had a great sense of humor and gentle in nature . I just can't believe this.You pumped my gas at the station on Broad street and I always looked for you when I went there.Honey you are and will be missed.may God keep you in his love and carey condolences to your family.
