Obituary

Mr. David Lee Cathcart, age of 79, of Decatur, Georgia. He was born on December 7, 1940 to the late Berry Cathcart and Emma Banks in Newport, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life February 4, 2020 at VA Medical Hospital.

He served in the United States Army.

He worked as a carpenter, and construction.

He has attended New Hope United Methodist Church.

He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He loved putting his foot in the gas tank, his church, and being a driving force in our family reunions.

He was preceded in death by his father, Berry Cathcart, mother, Emma Banks Cathcart, brother, Charles Cathcart, son, David L. Cathcart II, grandson, Da'Leceo Cathcart, great-grandson, Zaylen Torrence.

He leaves to cherish his fond memory, his daughter, Cassandra Cathcart Massey of Jacksonville, NC; sons, James Leon Cathcart (Brenda) of Rock Hill, SC, DeMorris V. Cathcart(Sonya) of Columbia, SC; siblings, Mae Cathcart Philadelphia, PA, James W. Cathcart (Sarah) of Baltimore, MD, Roscoe Cathcart (Louise) of York, SC, Sarah Copeland of Baltimore, MD, Ada Cathcart of Baltimore, MD, John Cathcart(Donna) of Wilson, NC, Mattie McKnight of Hampton, VA; grandchildren, Le'Byron, LaToya, LaQuoya, Harterius, DeMorris II, Amorria; in laws, William Gordon (Vickie), Virginia. Hood (Kenny), Lenora Cathcart, Hanan Adbullah, Frank Massey; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Burial will be at church cemetery.
