Fort Mill, SC resident Hembree Eugene Sutton Jr. died July 29, 2022 in Rock Hill, SC surrounded by family and friends. Hembree was born on June 23, 1948 in Macon, GA. He attended Norman College near Moultrie, GA and graduated from Mercer University in Macon, GA with a B.A. in English. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1970-1972 as a Corporal. Over the course of his career, he worked for Veterans Affairs, Georgia Pacific, the insurance industry, the restaurant business, and real estate. While his career was a staple, his passion was painting and his talent was with a brush. His treasure trove of art captures his many joys in life with friends and family, as well as places traveled. He was a devoted father, a loving husband, and most importantly a servant of The Lord Jesus Christ. As a faithful member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Hembree was a diligent study of God's Word. Hembree is preceded in death by his father Hembree Sutton Sr and second wife Betty Reeves Sutton. He is survived by his wife Kim Sutton, mother Martha Sutton, sisters Susan Perry and Arlene Smith, children David Sutton and Katherine Collings, step children Jenny Buhl, John Buhl, Jeff Buhl, Julie Pappas, Joy Zander, Mei Ling Nelson, Maria Bayley and Michelle Teller as well as 10 grandchildren and 16 step grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, on August 3rd, 2022 at Reformed Theological Seminary, 4824 Sharon View Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.
