Laurie Carter Leary, 71, of Rock Hill passed away peacefully on Feb 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by her children.
Laurie was born to parents Brady and Dorothy Carter on October 31, 1952. She grew up in Rock Hill and graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1972. She married her high school sweetheart, Marty, on July 13, 1973. Laurie was known for her quick wit and sense of humor, to know her was to love her. Laurie was a loving and devoted mother, known as "grandmother," by all her grandchildren and her day was always better when "her grandbabies were around".
Laurie was preceded in death by her husband Loyd "Marty" Leary, Jr., two grandchildren (Gatlin and Ireland), her brother (Michael), and sisters (Gayle, Terri, and Brenda). Laurie is survived by her three children Jason Leary (Stephanie), Jeremey Leary, and Jamie Leary-Spradley (Wade), 9 grandchildren (Ashlie, Jessica, Alivia, Zane, Christian, Tiffani, Lil Wade, Emma, and Memphis), as well as her sisters Carolyn Smith (Mack) and Ding Carter and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews of all whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to be made to Autism Speaks. The family would like to thank all those who have brought food, visited and sent condolences. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
