Ashley Jontae’ Smit h received the gift of life on August 22, 1982, in Austin, Texas, to Allen Jerome Smith and Regina Lynn Weston.
He was affectionately called “Big A” by his family and friends. He attended the public schools of Jackson County.
After graduating, he became self-employed, working various jobs before becoming disabled. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, baseball, and spending time with family. He attended the Church of God by Faith Church.
“Big A” made his transition on February 15, 2024, in Marianna, Florida. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
“Big A” leaves treasured memories with his two children, Dy’quarious Smith and Laurynn Smith, both of Marianna, Florida; mother, Regina Speights (Elexander) of Marianna, Florida; father, Alan J. Smith (Stephanie) of Louisiana; four sisters, Ariel Groomes, Jessica Guilford, Halston Smith and Makalay Smith; one brother, Christopher Smith Rhynes; grandfather, J. C. Smith; four aunts, special aunt, Ella Weston of Marianna, Florida, Renea Weston of Marianna, Florida, Doris Weston and Patricia Johnson; four uncles, special uncle, Matthew Weston of Marianna, Florida, Crushall Freeman, Wade Smith, and Trellis Callaway; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A public viewing will be Friday, March 1st from 3-5p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11a.m. at Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church where Reverend Paul Daniels is Pastor. Reverend Ronnie Spears, Pastor Roy Crawley, Minister Calvin Clemmons and Minister Billy White officiating.
Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
