EARNEST GODFREY JR., affectionately called “Skeeter” received the gift of life on December 5, 1950, in Marianna, Florida, to the late Earnest, Sr., and Lula Lee Godfrey.
He worked as a farmer for over 30 years, dedicating his life to hard work and providing for his family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters: Cora Garrett, Carrie Godfrey, and Jeannette Myrick; and two brothers, David Godfrey and Kelvin Godfrey.
Skeeter leaves behind cherished memories with one sister, Dorothy Wilson of Greenwood, Florida; three brothers, Willie Lee Godfrey of Greenwood, Florida, Jerry Godfrey and wife Latina of Chattahoochee, Florida, and Kenneth Godfrey of Sneads, Florida; two special nieces, Sharon Williams and Sherry Burden who always brought a smile to his face; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
A public viewing will be Friday, January 24th from 3-6pm at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel. A service celebrating Skeeter’s life will be Saturday, January 25th at 11am at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church where Reverend Eddie Bowers is Pastor. Reverend Dr. Nelson Wilson and Reverend Joseph Curry will be officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am until funeral time at 11:00 am
