Life began for Jessie Jerome Royster, Sr., on November 23, 1955, in Marianna, Florida, when God entrusted him to the hands of his parents, the late Bessie Royster and Johnny Dawson.
Jessie was reared in the Jackson County community and graduated from Marianna High School. His larger than life personality brought laughter and joy to all whom he encountered. He later relocated to Orlando, Florida, where he worked as a butcher at a local market. After residing there for 23 years, Jessie returned home to his roots.
With the passing of the final grain of sand from the hourglass of life, life as we know it ceased for our beloved Jessie on July 9, 2023, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.
Left to celebrate his life’s memories are his four sons, Jeffery Royster (Carolyn) and Demetrius Royster (Emral), both of Marianna, Florida, Byron Daniels of Dothan, Alabama, and Jessie Royster, Jr., of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Chantille Henderson of Cottondale, Florida; loving and devoted sister, Etta Speights of Marianna, Florida; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A public viewing will be Sunday, July 16th from 2-5 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel.
A Celebration of Jessie’s life will be Monday, July 17th at 11a.m. at RCC (Rivertown Community Church) where Brother Paul Smith is Pastor, Reverend Steve Collins, Minister Bobbie Donalson and Reverend Mark Dudley officiating. Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
