Obituary For Mr. Moses Lee Toombs

MOSES LEE TOOMBS was born September 4, 1937, in Marianna, Florida, to the late Bubba and Eva Toombs.

Moses was of the Baptist faith. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

Moses was employed with the Jackson County School Board where he worked at Marianna High School as a janitor. He later worked as a landscaper for more than 20 years.

After retirement, he enjoyed fishing and sitting outside observing nature. He was joined in holy matrimony on September 12, 1983, to Alice Speights. This union was blessed with 39 years of wonderful memories.

Moses made his transition on Friday, July 21, 2023, in the Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He leaves cherished memories with his loving and devoted wife, Alice L. Toombs; loving daughter, sister Dmika Bowers; two brothers, Sylvester Toombs of Marianna, Florida, and Floy Toombs and his wife Shirley of Thomasville, Georgia; two sisters, Ozella Helen Bell and her husband Iva of Thomasville, Georgia, and Bobbie Scott of Tampa, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Homegoing Celebration services for Mr. Moses Toombs will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Peoples Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Baker, Rev. Lonnie Gilbert, Rev. Carlton Cotton and Sister Dmika Bowers of officiating. Interment will follow the St. John Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Marianna, FL with the caring staff of Peoples Funeral Home directing. The body will will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral services.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home.
