Waddell was born to the late Waddell Lyons, Sr and Ruby Lee Washington and later another father, Leversoy Luke Goodman, Sr. entered his life.
He was born in Panama City, Florida but also lived in Detroit, Michigan.
He attended schools in both cities and graduated from Bay High School in Panama City, Florida.
He was the second born of 4 children and the best big and little brother to his siblings Vonnecia, Luke and Sunday who love him with all their hearts. He thought he was the eldest always so protective of his siblings. The bond they all share is inseparable and filled with immeasurable love.
Waddell always had a smile no matter what was happening in his life.
He loved making others laugh and just feel good, he had that gift.
He shared his love for God, encouraging others especially in times of need.
He was so loving and giving, helping anyone he could without wanting anything in return. He was a blessing to so many, sharing the same love God gave him.
Waddell loved to cook! He shared his talent and love for food in various restaurants in Panama City. His last employment was TideWater Deli where he worked for many years serving up good food but also feeding souls with his kind and beautiful spirit. His health began to decline, and he made the decision to retire. You could still find him in his own kitchen cooking and serving with love.
He also loved to eat and would astound you with the amount of food he could consume. His mother Ruby Lee called him a human food disposal because he could put away so much food without any problems.
He was an amazing son, checking on his mother and running errands for her until her passing. She always said he was her gentle giant.
Waddell was baptized at a very young age at Beck Avenue Church of Christ in Panama City. He had a strong and faithful relationship with Christ because of the foundation his grandfather Dolphus Washington laid for him very early in his life. He was always praising and giving God all the Honor, He knew and loved Christ. When you’d ask him how he was doing he would always say, “I’m blessed and highly favored, thankful to see another day.” That was Waddell, always thankful and faithful.
His faith is what carried him through despite his health issues and the trials and tribulations that life can sometimes bring.
He is an amazing Father to Armondo, Jaleesa, Darius, Demetrius, Dartagnan and Christopher, they are his proudest accomplishment in life. He is also a grandfather to twelve beautiful grandchildren ranging in age from 16 to 2. They affectionately call him Pawpaw and Pawpaw’s eyes would light up every time he saw and or talked about them. He was that Pawpaw that picked up the grandkids from school, went running when they needed extra discipline (with love) and provided a safe haven for them all. He cherished his relationship and bond with them all.
Waddell’s love for his family was unconditional, he valued them all.
He left us with the blueprint to love one another, keep God first and live life to the fullest. To be thankful no matter what, to see the good even when times are hard. His life was one well lived, shining brightly until God said, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
His family is blessed beyond measure that God loaned him to us, Lord we thank you.
He forever lives on in our hearts and in our souls, never forgotten.
He leaves to cherish his memory with so much love his children.
