Mr. Wilba Richard Robinson of Marianna, FL entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 19, 2024, at the Chipola Health and Rehab Center. He was 80 years old.
A native of Jackson County, he was educated in the public schools of Jackson County. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. After his tour of duty, he returned to civilian life and in the 70’s made his home in Minneapolis. He worked for Minneapolis YMCA, then moved on to Minneapolis Public Schools as a Counselor at the Hennepin County School for Boys, from there he worked as Attendance Specialist for St. Paul Public Schools. Richard retired from St. Paul Public Schools after many years of service to students and staff. Richard was also involved in the Teacher Union and sat on their Board for many years.
Upon relocated back to his native roots, Marianna, Florida, he reunited with St. James AME Church
He is survived by two brothers, Roger Clemmons of Columbia, South Carolina and James Robinson of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Bertha Speights of Marianna, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Memorialization will be by cremation. The Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna will be in charge of arrangements.
Another correction to Richard's obituary is warranted, he attended and graduated from New York University instead of Columbia University.
Not mentioned in Richard's obituary he attended college in New York City and graduated from Columbia University, which was an accomplishment that he was truly proud of.
