Obituary For Ms. Barbara Pope

Ms. Barbara Jean Gary Pope of Youngstown, Florida entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 20th at home. She was 73 years old.

Barbara was born to Mrs. Eliza Rivers on December 21, 1950, in Phenix City, Alabama. She attended Bay County Public Schools and resided here until she transitioned from her home on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. She married the love of her life Robert Pope, December 30, 1985.

Barbara, affectionately known as Aunt Barb and Cousin Bob, was a woman with many talents. She was a seamstress and jewelry maker. She enjoyed facetiming with her grandchildren, traveling to spend time with her children, and having lunch with her siblings. She loved being a part of the St. Andrew flea market community.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Tony Wells (Corina), Theresa Curry, Tonya Hagander (David), and Kelvin Gary (Erin); grandchildren, Darion Duncan, Dante Curry, Shania Curry, Zora Wells, Zevon Wells, Sterling Holt, Santana Holt, Maya Hagander, Micah Hagander, Kayla Gary, and Jordan Gary; great grandchildren, Malcolm, Gianna, Gabe, Gianna and Gabriella; two brothers, Eugene (Ella) Gary and Harry (Octavia) Rivers; three sisters, Mary (Ira) Thornton, Deloris (Wayne) Jones and Annie (Tommy) Hicks; two aunts, Odessa Betties and Easter Payton. brothers-in -law, Gary(Maxine), Albert (Shirley), Nathan (Cynthia) , and Holdredge Pope; special friends, Laura Ward, and Gwendolyn Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the New Beginnings Assembly of the Saints on Friday, August 30th from 4-6pm. A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, August 31st at 11:00am at the New Beginning Assembly of the Saints with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
