Obituary For Ms. Marilyn Unetha Long

A beautiful life began on June 14, 1945, for Ms. Marilyn Unetha Long in Marianna, the Rock Bottom Community, Florida to Ms. Hattie Mae McCollough and the late William E. Long, Sr. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 5th at the Signature Healthcare in Marianna . She was 74 years old. A native of Jackson County, she was of the Methodist faith and a member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church. After graduating from high school, Marilyn moved to Newark, New Jersey where she worked and retired from the Essex County School Board. After 27 years, she relocated back to her birth place where she remained until her demise. Some of Marilyn’s fondest memories were those of her childhood in to Rock Bottom Community. She recalled of the homes being built from lime rocks and how proud she was to be born there. She was preceeded in death by her father William E. Long, Sr. and the love of her life her precious daughter Rosalind Long. Marilyn leaves precious memories with her mother, Ms. Hattie Mae McCollough of Marianna, Florida; step-mother, LaFlorence Long of Marianna, Florida; one sister, Janice Tanner and husband Charlie of Marianna, Florida; three brothers, Rodger Clemmons and wife Paulette, Calvin Clemmons and wife Teresa both of Marianna, Florida and William E. Long, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; special cousins and caregivers, Linda Smith and husband William, Bettie Ellis, LaDon Clemmons and wife Alicia, all of Marianna, Florida; one aunt, Vivian Darby of Marianna, Florida, special daughter, Monica Hogans White and husband Scottie of Cottondale, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A Heaven Bound Celebration for Marilyn will be Saturday, October 12th at 11a.m. at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald D. Mizer, Rev. Frances Menchion, Rev. Dovie Lewis and Min. Jesse Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
