Mr. Anthony E. Smith, Sr., of Marianna, Florida, was born on July 9, 1962, to the late Reverend Emmon F. Smith, Sr., and Mary Lee Speights (Mack).
He accepted Christ into his life at a very early age. He attended public school in Jackson County, where he graduated from Marianna High School. During his time there, he was very athletic and played both football and basketball, excelling in both sports.
In 1982, he attended Albany State University to further his education and football journey. In 1983, Anthony joined the United States Army and he continued until he received a medical honorable discharge.
On January 2, 1984, he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life Gwendolyn Jean Smith and they enjoyed 42 wonderful years together.
In addition to his parents, Anthony was also preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Adolphus Speights of Marianna, FL.
Cherished memories of a wonderful life will forever linger with his loving family: his wife of 42 years, Gwendolyn Jean Smith of Marianna, FL; two daughters, Marlena (Hurley) Perry of Dothan, AL and Kaishauna Smith of Greenwood, FL; one son, Anthony Smith, Jr., of Panama City, FL; three brothers, Ronald Smith of Jacksonville, FL, Wayne Smith of Greenwood, FL, and Duane Smith of Cottondale, FL; four sisters, Sharron Smith of Plainfield, NJ, Carolyn Smith of Orlando, FL, Sonya (Reginald) Leslie of Cottondale, FL, and Gwen (Spencer) Abrams of Pensacola, FL; three grandchildren Samuel Garrett, Damien Smith, and Kristina Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other dear family members and friends.
