Obituary For Sister Vivian Darby

Sister Vivian Darby of Marianna, FL entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at her residence with her loving family at her bedside.

Vivian 96, was born to Phyllis Copeland and George Harley. Vivian joined Henshaw AME Church at an early age and remained a devoted member, faithfully attending until her health faded later in life. She took great pride in her church attire, and when you saw her, she was always dressed in her signature “high heel shoes and matching purses.”

Family was always important to her, and she made sure to teach and pass down all the lessons she learned over her lifetime.

Vivian is preceded in death by her spouse, James Darby Sr.; Brother William E Long Sr, daughter, Linda Copeland Smith; granddaughter, Jennifer Jones; and great-grandson, Bradenton Williams, all of Marianna, FL.

Vivian leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Gina Highsmith of Marianna, FL; one son, James “Man” Darby Jr (Diane). of Marianna, FL; two granddaughters, Andrea “Deedi” Jones-Lang of Atlanta, Georgia, and DeLancy Highsmith of Marianna, FL; two grandsons, Kerwin Reynard Jones (Dr. Laurita) of Tallahassee, FL, and Brandon Highsmith of Jacksonville, FL. Great-grandchildren include: Ahriahna, Corlus, Jacquorian (JD), Tyrah, Morgan, Kerwin II, Ivey, and Jaqueline. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, LaFlorence Long of Marianna, FL; and one nephew, William E. Long Jr. of Marianna, FL.

Special thanks to Kenneth “Twin” Jones for all of the assistance and care you provided.
