Johnnie Hayes Jr., 68, of Lexington, KY, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Chandler Hospital, University of KY Healthcare in Lexington. Johnnie LOVED spending time with his family, friends, riding his bike, walking in his community area and attending live basketball events at UK. He most often started his conversations with, “let’s talk about it.” He had a loving down to earth spirit and he will be missed by many.
Preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, his father, Johnnie Hayes Sr, his mother, Pauline Percell Hackett, two sisters, Marilyn Hayes Ruth and Annette Hayes Pratt.
Johnnie’s memories will be cherished by his loving sisters; Linda Hayes (Mose) Cecil, Gussie Hayes (Ossie) Hendrix, Malisa Hayes Wiley, his brother, Jackson Hudson, his children, Nicole, Stephan, Matthew, Bethany, his step daughter Nina, his Uncle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Percell & Son’s Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, KY. You are welcome to send cards, words of encouragement, flowers and/or mementos to the Memorial Service of Johnnie Hayes Jr.

we met Johnnie at his work. he was always such a positive guy and was always looking out for Justin after his heart surgery. we miss him greatly already. & are so very sorry for such a great loss.
