Alice F. Young Jenkins, daughter of the late Oscar Samuel Young and Mattie Philpott Young, was born July 2, 1932. Alice was the youngest of seven children and departed this earthly life on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Camden Health & Rehabilitation, Greensboro, NC.
She was predeceased by her husband William Jenkins: youngest son, William Anthony Jenkins, brothers William Pressley Young (Elizabeth), Robert Randolph Young (Mary), Samuel Joseph Young (Margaret); sisters, Ella Y. Thorpe (Benny), Edith Y. Brooks (Eugene), Lillian Y. Holland (John), a niece Linda Young Reddick (Lee), and a nephew Michael Young.
Alice was reared in the Stovall Community of Oxford, North Carolina and graduated from Mary Potter Academy, Oxford, North Carolina. At an early age, Alice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined First Baptist Church of Stovall. She remained a loyal member until she relocated to Mt. Vernon, New York, where she became a member of Straight Gate Holiness Church. After moving to New York, she earned her CNA and worked at Honeywell for many years.
Upon her retirement in 2005, Alice relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina. Alice quickly affiliated with United Institutional Baptist Church, where she worshiped on a regular basis until she developed mobility and other health issues. After joining United Institutional, she joined the Shepherd’s Ministry, Ward #5, the Senior Ministry, and Adult Sunday School. Alice made friends easily and became a member of the Royal Social Club. She enjoyed playing Spades and Pinochle with members of the Club.
She leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory, her devoted son, Toney Y. Gregory (Anne), daughter Phylicia Jenkins of California; one granddaughter Cheyenne Jenkins Manis (Andy) of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandsons, Michael B. Gregory of Hanahan, South Carolina and Machon B. Gregory (Renee), of Silver Spring, Maryland, four greatgrandchildren, Mackenzie, Solomon, Lillian, and Isabell Gregory of Silver Spring, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Nadia Poon-Woo (Troy), and of nieces and nephews, as well as other family, friends, and acquaintances in both North Carolina and New York.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 18, 2025, 11:00am United Institutional Baptist Church 802 East Market Street Greensboro, North Carolina. Visitation 10:30 am.
Burial will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park Cemetery, 6163 US-15 Oxford, North Carolina.

Words can't express your loss of your mother to me. I'll remember the the good times we had at UIBC Senior Ministry playing dominos, she was one of the best players. Also, she loved my pound cakes and trying to hide them from Toney was a challenge. I do send my condolences to the family. Love Linda
