Our beloved Andrew Courtney Davis III, has transitioned and reunited with our mother, Vivian Lyons Williams, on Friday, March 8. Courtney was a fun loving, aspiring minister, socialite with loving intent, and forever a physicist. Courtney was born in St Louis, MO on April 14, 1956 ( same date as his grandmother, Beatrice Bell Lyons)to Vivian Lyons Davis ( Vivians first marriage) and Andrew “Mickey” Courtney Davis II. He was the first grandchild of Alvin Van Lyons and Beatrice Bell Lyons. He was a smart, fun seeking, loving child and became a big brother to the grandchildren born in the St Louis Area ( cousins Leslie Bond, Eric Bond, and Steve Clark Jr).
When Vivian met and married Dr CW Williams, Courtney moved to Charlotte and continued to blossom. He was embraced with love from his step father, Dr Williams and children ( Dr Charles “Chuck” Warren Williams Jr and Pamela Ann Williams). Courtney ingratiated himself in his new neighborhood, Hyde Park, and new community, attending North Mecklenburg high school. He was considered one of the “cool kids” known for his stylish outfits, good looks, and he played sports. After graduating from North Meck he attended Morehouse in Atlanta then graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in Physics. He used his degree and physics background to launch a company, International Aerospace Technology Company. He continued life, pursuing his interest in physics, traveling, and being a source of inspiration and laughter for his family.
He and his mother had a unique-special bond. They were soul mates, united by God, family, and an eternal love. He also had an adoring love for his little brother, Warren Christian Williams, and all of his friends. He always had “trash talk” and jokes for anyone around the pool at the Hyde Park House. He also adored his sister in law, Lenee Nicole Williams, they established a bond early and he began to confide in her over the years. He was the best “Uncle Drew” to his young nieces, London Christina Williams (5) and Taylor Celine Williams (11 months). He had a keen sense for birthday and Christmas gifts for the kids.
Courtney had a peaceful transition surrounded by love and prayer. He was loved and adored by the staff at Central Regional Hospital. The staff became extended family and were pivotal to his happiness during this later period. Anyone that knew Courtney, remembers his smile, his laughter, and his giving nature. He never met a stranger, often communicating greetings to strangers in their native language, Chinese, Espanol, Japanese, Vietnamese, he remembered salutations in every language! Rest in strength and peace, my sweet big brother, may God continue to allow your light to shine and spirit to thrive. When you see mom, take your time with that first dance, hold her hand tight, spin her around slowly, gaze into her eyes and tell her, I made it back home to you safely again, this time for eternity.
Courtney is survived by his brother Warren C Williams, Sister in Law, Lenee Nicole Williams, nieces, London Christina Williams, and Taylor Celine Williams. Stepsister and brother in law , Pamela and Charles Coote. Aunts Anita Bond, Yvonne Turner, Brenda Kennedy, and Mary Lyons. Uncles Vennie Lyons, and Steve Clark. Cousins Steve Clark Jr, Stanford Clark, Sidney Clark, George Turner, Gordon Turner, Gail Jacobs, Vennie Lyons Jr, Anthony Lyons, Carol Kennedy, Candace McKeever, and his forever cousin/brother and “Original Wingman”, Les Bond Jr.
