Ardelia Matthews, a beloved matriarch whose warmth and devotion touched generations, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Born into a life of faith, resilience, and love, Ardelia shared 50 cherished years of marriage with her late husband, Lewis Matthews. Together, they built a home filled with strength, laughter, and enduring values.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, her daughter Gloria M. Patton, and her son Lewis Matthews Jr. Ardelia’s memory will forever live on through her children: Daniel Matthews, Thomas Matthews, Brenda Matthews, and Jeffrey Matthews with his spouse Pricilla Matthews.

Her legacy continues in the hearts of her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward her spirit of kindness, perseverance, and love.

Ardelia’s life was a testament to family and faith. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, her gentle wisdom, and the countless ways she nurtured those around her.

A celebration of her life will be held with family and friends, honoring the remarkable woman who gave so much and asked for so little. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2025 2pm at Carolina Biblical Gardens 5710 Riverdale Drive Jamestown, North Carolina.
