Obituary For Bishop John Henry Williams

Bishop, John Williams passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 11:00 am at St. Matthews AME Church 1136 Apple St. Burlington, NC. 10:30 am Visitation. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery 3910 Forest Lawn Dr. Greensboro, NC.

Bishop John Henry Williams was born on December 5th, 1949 to Ned and Mary Williams in Andrews, South Carolina. Bishop John Henry Williams attended rosemary school in Andrews, South Carolina. Bishop Williams was one of 19 brothers and sisters. He grew up and was raised on his Uncle Buck’s farm. He gave his life to Christ at a young age and always had a preacher’s spirit within him. He had seven children with his wife Pearlie Mae Williams (alma Williams, Heather Williams-Walker, Demetrick Williams, John Williams, Precious Williams-Jones, Sheena Blair Williams and Daniel Williams). After moving to Brooklyn, New York, Bishop Williams became ordained as a bishop and founded the New Hope House of God Saints in Christ Church. The church was founded in 1985 with his wife Pearlie Mae Williams, who served as assistant pastor. The church was located on Hopkinson Avenue in Brooklyn, New York until it was moved in 2000 to Newark, New Jersey.

Bishop Williams dedicated his life to helping and serving his community through ministry and giving. He fed hundreds of people through his Sunday food drives and give aways. Not only did he serve by ministering and feeding the less fortunate, but he also gave church members rides to and from church every Sunday who could not make it on their own. His passion for Jesus and those in need of help and prayer will always be remembered and missed.

Bishop John Henry Williams worked as a molder for over 20 years. He helped build the black light post on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. After retiring, he poured all of his focus, time and energy into his family and ministry. He is survived by his children, Heather Williams-Walker, Demetrick Williams, Precious Williams-Jones, and Daniel Williams. his grandchildren, Samantha Mitchell, Jasmine Walker, Shantique Walker, Dante Walker, Ashleigh Lester, Summer Williams, Jaden Williams, Destiny Jones, Isabella Jones, Elisha Jones, and Malachi Jones. His brothers Leroy Williams, Freddie Williams, Joseph Williams, Jerome Williams, Alexander Williams. His sisters Thelma Williams, Marlin Williams, Cindy Williams, and Linda Williams. And also, many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended church family.

Bishop John Henry Williams was a wonderful man of god, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, leader and will be deeply missed.
