Mr. Calvin McKenney Drummond, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at his residence.
Calvin Drummond was the youngest of four children born to the late Robert Earl Rosemond and the late Clara Wingo on December 10, 1943, in South Carolina.
He attended George W. Wingate High School, where he graduated before joining the United States Air Force with two close friends, Rubert Fontenell and Swins Fontenell. After serving in the Air Force, Calvin became a dedicated and hardworking employee at Chase Banking Corporation, where he worked for twenty-five years. In addition, he worked at the American Indian Museum and was ordained, proudly serving as an Elder at St. Paul Church in New York for over twenty years.
He later met his beautiful future wife, Ms. Roxanne. They dated, fell in love, and were married in 2009. In 2013, they relocated from New York to North Carolina, where Calvin enjoyed life as a retired veteran. He spent time with his close friend and neighbor, Apostle Ezekiel, did yard work, attended Bible study, and went to Sunday church services at Bethany Community Church of Sedalia, where he and his wife were members.
Calvin was a joy to be aroundโhumble, kind, and generous. He had a giving spirit and loved people dearly. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Roxanne Drummond; his stepdaughter, Jennie; one sister, Unice; one brother, Winslow; one niece, Dr. Makenzie; one nephew, Joseph; and a host of friends and relatives.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 12:00 pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home located at 909 East Market Street in Greensboro, North Carolina. A visitation will precede the service at 11:30 am.
Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
Mr. Calvin was a fine example of a true gentleman. I adopted him as my second God-father in 2012. He shared Christian wisdom with me as often as possible, and he enjoyed that much. He loved his family and friends dearly. He spoke highly of them all.
My condolences to the Drummond family. I am sorry for your loss. Calvin was a kind hearted person.
