Carl Leonard Bryant, Sr. was born March 2, 1947, to the late Alvin Manning & Vonbeulah Hill Bryant. On Monday February 7, 2022, Muh called Carl home for the last time from Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro after a long illness.
Carl, the first born of Alvin & Vonbeulah, was educated in the Tyrell County public school system graduating in 1965 and joined Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.
Carl Leonard (yes, he was a two-name child), lived an adventuresome, full, mischievous, childhood which transformed him into a larger-than-life character as an adult. Carl always lived his life on his own terms even with a father steeped in the military life. EVERYONE loved Carl, no family event was complete unless he was there. Carl loved his family, none more so than Earl, Mike and Irving (Pugh). They were always hanging out together, I can imagine they are together right now.
After high graduation, Carl headed to the big Apple for a short stay before attending the College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City. Then after a couple of years he decided to make Greensboro his home.
Over the years he has welcomed many friends and family into his home. Later he met and married Sarah of Greensboro and they had many happy years together. Over Carl's Iife, he has made friends with some of the best and we thank each of you for the role you played in his life.
Carl was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Flynn and Alvin Michael as well as his parents Alvin & Vonbeulah Bryant.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Carl L Bryant Jr. of New York, Romal Sawyer of Elizabeth City; Desmond Alexander of Greensboro, Shawn (Denise) Blount of Roper, two daughters Ulonda Wade of Greensboro; Carla Jordan of Garner; two sisters, Teresa (John) Pinckney of Charlotte and Renetta (James) Mills of Raleigh; two brothers Craig (Lisa) Bryant and Kirk Bryant both of Greensboro. Carl has an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy lives.
A service honoring his life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel.
Professional services are entrusted to Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
My Condolences to the Bryant family, may God give you comfort and peace during this difficult time.
