Darian Jaimelle Reid, Sr. was born to James A. Reid, Sr. and Nadine Davis Reid on June 30, 1977 in Laurinburg, NC. He was raised in Bennettsville, SC where he played the saxophone in the marching band. After graduating from Scotland High School, he moved to Greensboro to attend North Carolina A&T State University where he majored in computer science. During that time he met his future wife Jacqueline “Jackie” Moore Reid. They married and moved to Brandywine, MD where Darian worked in the civil engineering, surveying and construction inspection fields. Darian and Jackie spent three years in Maryland before relocating to the Charlotte, NC area where his family continued to grow and he advanced in his career field.
Darian was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. He loved his wife and his children dearly and wanted to see the blessings of the Lord on their lives. The scripture says in 1 Timothy 5:8, “ But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel”. Darian was a faithful provider and taught his children the importance of hard work and commitment to family. When times were tough, it seemed that he always got tougher than the times. Nothing ever seemed to take away his smile and laughter! He was a faithful man who gave his all.
He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Jackie, his children Tajzhan Moore of Charlotte, NC, Rikki Heath of Kannapolis, NC, and Darian J. Reid, Jr., Amelia Reid, Camryn Reid, Joseph Reid, and Jailyn Reid of Gastonia, NC, his grandchildren, Miracle Moore, King Moore and Kynaird Moore of Charlotte, NC, and Lily Mills and Atlas Elder of Kannapolis, NC, and his siblings Lavina Nipper (Tahquan) of Greensboro, NC, James A. Reid, Jr. (Melissa) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Tim Reid (Cori) of Cornelius, NC, and Ashley Reid of Bennettsville, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
