Darryl Jerome McEachern passed away on February 4, 2023 after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. He did not lose the battle; he stepped out of that worn out earthly body and moved to the ultimate place of peace and rest which is in the arms of God. He was 66 years old.
Darryl was a graduate of Walter Hines Page High School where he played on the Pirates basketball team. Standing tall at 6’7, he was absolutely unstoppable in the center position. After graduating, Darryl decided to forego offers to play college ball as his heart was firmly set on the military. He served in the United States Army.
Darryl was preceded in death by his brother: Paul Walker, Jr. and his sister: Robin Ann Walker.
His memories will live on in the hearts of his daughters: Cheryl Daniels Green (Jordan) of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Ashley McEachern; his mother: Thelma McEachern Walker of Greensboro, North Carolina; his sisters: Vickie L. Walker of Inglewood, California, Linda Walker Ward (LaShaun) of High Point, North Carolina, Dyane Walker Barrientos (Carlos) of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a very special cousin-brother: Gregory A. Johnson of Greensboro, North Carolina. Darryl will also be tremendously missed by his granddaughters: Amy Green and Delaney Green whom he truly adored.
