Obituary For Darryl Parker

I am home in Heaven, dear ones! There are perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All pain and grief are over, and I am at peace forever at last.

Darryl Andre’ Parker was born on February 26, 1961, in Washington, DC, to Evelyn Fletcher Parker. His father, John Estee Parker, preceded him in death. On Sunday, September 14, 2025, after a lengthy illness, Darryl went home to be with the Lord.

Darryl’s early education began at St. John’s Baptist DeSalle Catholic School in Chillum, Maryland. In
1975, the family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, where they joined the Woodlea Lake community.
He attended Allen Middle School and James B. Dudley High School. After graduation, Darryl proudly
served six years in the United States Air Force.

While stationed in Agana, Guam, in December 1983, Darryl married Regina Allen of Memphis,
Tennessee. Upon their return to the United States, they lived in Brentwood, Maryland, and became the
proud parents of three sons: D’Andre, D’Andrew, and Darrian. Later, due to employment opportunities,
the family moved to Bridgeport, West Virginia. Darryl’s career there reflected his versatility and work ethic—he worked as a camera operator at the local TV station, and a one-man airport ticket agent who managed boarding, flight takeoffs, and landings, and served as an EMT driver for the City of Bridgeport.

A quiet and private man by nature, Darryl was a diligent worker and enjoyed simple joys: old-school
music, especially Parliament and Motown classics, reading his Bible, and engaging in discussions about
politics. His intelligence and curiosity led him to teach himself how to rebuild computers in his basement
during his spare time. He also embraced entrepreneurship by starting his own small business, North Central Delivery, which served major retailers like Staples.

Darryl returned to Greensboro, North Carolina, in 2008. His final employment was with Gilbarco Veeder- Root, where he distributed parts worldwide for gas stations. At Gilbarco though he was often a loner and guarded about his personal life, he shared genuine bonds with colleagues, Linda Clyburn, Odessa Gaithewright, and Tyrone Galloway. He opened up in conversations and earned deep respect for his loyalty and character.

Friendship meant everything to Darryl. Upon moving to Greensboro, he formed lifelong bonds with Tony Frazier, Darryl Stallings, Raymond Jones, Ronnie Lane, Steve Branch, and others. These friendships, built on 50 years of laughter, trust, and brotherhood, were his anchor through life’s seasons. In fact, Darryl spent his final hours surrounded by these faithful friends, who stood by him until the end.

Darryl carried his love for music throughout his life—old-school grooves, soulful Motown hits, and Parliament funk beats were the soundtrack to his days. His passion for music, his quiet strength, and his unwavering loyalty to family and friends will remain hallmarks of his life.

Carrying on Darryl’s legacy are his three sons, D’Andre (Jennifer), D’Andrew, and Darrian; two beloved grandchildren, Jayden and Athena; his devoted mother Evelyn Parker; his brother Keith (Tasha); niece Nichole; nephew Keith Myles Parker; former spouse Regina Parker; loving aunts, uncles, and a host of
relatives and friends who will continue to honor his memory.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 2:30pm Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home 909 East Market Street Greensboro, North Carolina. Visitation 2pm.

Your signature laugh, your debates, the sounds of the music that we both loved and the sing-alongs at the pack stand, hey do you remember songs are just a few of many things that will be missed. You ran your race and job well done, rest in eternal peace. Continued prayers for the Parker family and friends who knew and loved you.
