Delossie "Dee" Grainger, 78, of Wilmington, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on February 5, 2025. She was the first born of the late Francis and Emma Bryan in Wilmington, North Carolina on September 18, 1946, the oldest of five siblings.
Delossie was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her legacy will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Bryan of Atlanta, GA, Gail and Nadine Bryan of Wilmington, NC, her three children, Renetta Crisp (Curtis) of Burlington, NC, Willie Grainger III (Tracy) of Charlotte, NC, and Bryanne Grainger of Greensboro, NC. Delossie was a proud grandmother to Tameka Mosley (Bryan), Tirsa Grainger, Kaylynn Grainger, Willie Grainger IV, Legacy Grainger, and Jayla Grainger. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Aylana Grainger, Ashley Mosley, Addison Mosley and a host of nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends.
Delossie began her early education in Wilmington, NC, followed by graduating from Williston High School in 1964, where she excelled in music as a clarinetist in the marching and concert bands. She continued on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from North Carolina A&T in 1974. Though her pursuit of a Masters in Human Resources was interrupted by a work injury, she made a lasting impact as the Payroll and Personnel Administrator at NC A&T.
Her life revolved around her devotion to her family, community, and church, United Institutional Baptist Church. Delossie was an active member of the Dudley Band Booster Club and participated in many church activities, including the choir, chairing committees, and starting programs to assist impoverished families and children.
Funeral service will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 11am United Institutional Baptist Church 802 East Market Street Greensboro,North Carolina. Visitation 10:30am.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery 3910 Forest Lawn Drive Greensboro, North Carolina.
