Mr. Derrick Clapp passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 18, 2025, 2:00 pm at Believers Missionary Baptist Church, 235 Ward Road, Greensboro, North Carolina. Visitation 1:00 pm.
Burial will follow at Proximity Mills Cemetery 2009 Phillips Avenue Greensboro, North Carolina.
Derrick Leonard Clapp was born to the late John Leonard Clapp, Jr. and Ronell Herring Goode on February 25, 1965. God in his infinite wisdom and mercy called Derrick to himself on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Derrick attended Greensboro City School System and graduated from Walter Hines Page High School in 1983. His work history included Kmart, Curtis Meat Packing Company, and Twisted Paper Company as a Supervisor.
Derrick was dearly loved, and he loved his family and friends unconditionally. Derrick loved football and basketball. Anyone who knew him knew that he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to gather with friends and family during holidays and special events for food and fun.
Derrick was preceded in death by his father, John Leonard Clapp, Jr. and his loving grandmother, Bernell Herring.
Derrick is survived by parents, Ronell and Jame Goode; daughters, Whitney Florence, Donna M. Clapp (Shaunda) of Riverdale, Georgia, Ashley Goode and Jessica Goode; sons, Dean Goode and Tre-vor Goode; sisters and brothers, Mareo A. Clapp (Eva), Katrice A. Clapp Moore (Julius), Aretha A. Shaw McFadden (Harry), Jaycee G. Clapp (Alice), John Leonard Clapp III, Monica Dixon (John), and Zuberi Mackgood; one aunt, Gaynell Herring and one uncle, Apostle D. Wayne Clapp; 11 grandchildren; significant other, Jeannie Caldwell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Growing up Derek and I went to Archer Elementary and Irving Park ,he was a funny heartfelt dude and way too young to pass..He will be missed truly..
I remember ,Derrick from Claremont very nice and kind guy also. Very handsome may he rest in peace!

Derrick had a unique ability to make everyone around him laugh and feel cherished. Known by many names, he touched countless lives, but above all, he was family—and that bond will forever remain in our hearts. May his memory bring comfort and strength to all who loved him during this difficult time.
