Ms. Dorcas Ngala Mukeni was born on June 12, 1996, in Mbuji-Mayi of the Democratic Republic of Congo to Johnny and Angele Mukeni. Dorcas made her transition on August 12, 2021, in Greensboro, North Carolina at Cone Health Wesley Long Hospital.
Dorcas was a determined, headstrong, funny, honest, kind, bubbly, caring, and loving woman. At age 8 she immigrated to the United States with her family, and she graduated from Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology Magnet High School in 2014 in their Academy of Medical Sciences and Biotechnology.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Spanish at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2018. During her tenure there, she traveled to study at the Universidad de Extremadura in Cáceres, Spain. In addition to Spain, Dorcas enjoyed traveling to various countries including Amsterdam, Italy, France, and Germany. After graduating, Dorcas served in the role of Group Lead Pheresis at CSL Plasma, putting her passion for biology into practice.
Dorcas enjoyed karaoke, working out, listening to music, eating, and impersonations. She was a great conversationalist and enjoyed listening to stories. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. She marched to the beat of her own drums and lived life to the fullest.
Dorcas is survived by her parents, older sister Gloria Mujinga Mukeni; and younger siblings, Jonathan Mukeni, Joane Mukeni, Vainqueur Mukeni, and Victoria Mukeni; and a host of friends who have become like family. She is gone far too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. A service honoring her life will be held at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 21, 2021.The visitation will begin at 11:00am and the service will follow at 11:30am. Burial Forest Lawn Cemetery
