Mrs. Drexon Smith passed away on October 17, 2022 at Beacon Place. Graveside service will be held Wednesday October 26 at Lakeview Memorial Park at 1 pm.
Drexon Veronica Smith was born on November 25, 1936 in Chester, PA to Vernon Dale, Sr. and Anna Dale. Drexon was the 4th child of their 7 children. She attended both elementary and high school in Chester, PA where she graduated from Chester High School.
She started her career in cooking at a restaurant in the community. Cooking was one of her talents she truly loved. I’m sure most of you can agree with this, her sweet potato pies, sweet rolls, pound cakes and to say the least the main course was just as good.
Drexon moved to Boston and began working in the health care field. She also worked for Honeywell EDP for over 10 years. After the closing of the company, she worked at New England Medical Center Radiation Department.
After both she and her husband retired, they relocated to Greensboro and joined St. James Baptist Church over 29 years ago and met many Christian friends and neighbors. Drexon was a faithful member until COVID came and health began to fail.
She also worked for the Dejoy family for over 20 years and helped to raise their children.
Drexon was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Smith; sisters: Delores Dale and Dorothy Mitchell; and brother: Vernon Dale, Jr. of Chester, PA.
She leaves to mourn her beloved sister: Celestine Dale of the home; children: Rhonda and Rhoda Smith of Boston, MA, Charles Smith (Lisa) of Chicago, IL, Mark Smith (Debra) of Boston, MA, Denise Wilson of Boston, MA, and Tydie Sutton Evans (Michael) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Mildred Council and brother: Oliver Dale of Chester, PA; a host of cousins, nephews and nieces; special niece: Laurease Dale (Reese) of Chester, PA; and close friend: Barbara Dixon of Boston, MA.
We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers. May God's Loving Presence Comfort You During this Time of Loss.
