Mr. Eddie Martin was born on May 5, 1942, in Friendship Township (Greensboro), North Carolina, to the late Coy J. Martin and the late Margie Hall Martin. He peacefully departed this life on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Eddie’s life journey spanned 83 years, marked by his hard work, devotion to his family, and a love for the outdoors.
A devoted father and grandfather, Eddie cherished his family—especially his grandchildren. He had a special way of making each family member feel valued and supported, often sacrificing to ensure they had what they needed to succeed in life.
Eddie spent his early years growing up in the Collins Grove community alongside his fifteen brothers and sisters and attended Guilford County Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Margie Martin; his brothers, Curly Hall, Seymour Hall, James Martin, John Martin, and George Martin; and his sisters, Veora H. Crutchfield, Alberta Jarvis, Virginia Pleasant, Georgianna Lindsay, Mattie Hickman, Ora Mae Williams, Margaret Maxwell, and Evelyn Martin.
He leaves to cherish his daughters from his marriage to the late Phyllis Porter Martin: Eileen A. Martin of Greensboro, NC; Andrea Gail Kirkland (Lawrence) of Stoneville, NC; Monica C. Martin (Roger) of Jamestown, NC; and Ashley M. Salamanca of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his twin sister, Edna Cheek (Luke) of Greensboro, NC; his grandchildren, Farrah Martin and Franchesca Martin of Greensboro, NC, and Tristan Salamanca of Atlanta, GA; his great-grandchildren,
Kash Roman and Kobe Martin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Eddie began working at an early age and was employed by Dixon Roofing Company for many years. He later dedicated 45 years of service to Lewis Storage Company, where he remained until his retirement. Later in life, Eddie attended Collins Grove United Methodist Church, serving as a Trustee, a member of the United Methodist Men, and in the Senior Choir.
An avid sports fan, Eddie also enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. His favorite teams included the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Yankees, and in recent years he proudly became a UNC Tar Heels fan. He found great joy in watching all kinds of sports and was known for his sports trivia knowledge.
Above all, Eddie was a humble and kind man with a warm smile, a listening ear, and a genuine love for conversation and laughter. He never met a stranger, and strangers quickly became friends. His welcoming spirit, easygoing nature, and infectious joy left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Eddie’s presence brought comfort, laughter, and meaning to many lives, and he will be deeply missed.
