Obituary For Golden Capel Lee

Golden Capel Lee, 94 years old, transitioned into her eternal rest on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

A Celebration of Life Homegoing Service will be on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 1106 Tuscaloosa Street, Greensboro NC. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at The Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, North Carolina at 1:30 p.m.

Golden was the seventh child born to David Jerome Capel and Willie Fletcher Bennett Capel of eleven children in Candor, NC in Montgomery County on October 16, 1929. Golden graduated from Peabody High School in Troy, NC. She decided to pursue teaching as her career and attended Fayetteville State University.

Golden graduated from Fayetteville State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Primary Education. She started her teaching career in Sanford NC, where she met her future husband, Anderson D. Lee. They had one daughter, Angela, while teaching in Sanford, NC. Golden also taught in elementary schools in Burlington NC and Greensboro NC. She retired from teaching in 1985.

Golden was a very dedicated member of Providence Baptist Church, where she served in many organizations over her lifetime membership. She continued to work in the organizations until her husband of 60 years became ill and needed home care. She cared for him until his death in 2019.

Golden loved family very much. She had great relationships with all her siblings, seven brothers and three sisters. She loved planning and attending family reunions. Her kindness and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her, especially her two grandchildren, Antonio D. Vincent, and Danesha M. Vincent of Greensboro NC, who took such wonderful care of her when she was unable to care for herself alone.
