Mrs. Janie Louise Johnson Milton, 89 of Greensboro, NC, died Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at her residence. Janie was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 24, 1935, to Sarah Jane Hemphill Archie and Larry Archie. She was raised in Cincinnati and graduated from Withrow High School 1954. Janie’s career included her work at Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing, where she eventually retired. After moving to Greensboro, North Carolina, in 2000, she became an active member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church and joined the Hayes Taylor YMCA. Janie was known for her wit, infectious sense of humor, unapologetic opinions, and unconditional love for her family and friends. Her granddaughters, Sabrina Maria Fuller and Ebony Renee Rone, as well as her
grandson Lamont Lee Smith, preceded her in death.
Janie and her surviving husband, Henry Milton, were married for 22 years. She is also survived by her children: Jacqueline Ann Saunders of Greensboro, North Carolina; Karen Lynett Fuller and her husband, Lemuel Fuller Jr., of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Edward Bailey Johnson and his wife, Brandy Marie Johnson, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Victoria Banks of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Ibu Milton of Greensboro, NC.
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren. Her grandchildren include District Court Judge Larry Laron Archie of Greensboro, NC, Brandon Edward Begley of Cincinnati, OH, and Shaunna Maria Fuller, along with Samuel Lee Fuller, Lemuel Fuller III, and Stephen Dwayne Fuller, all from Arizona and Utah. Janie’s great-grandchildren include Citney Cierra Rice of Cincinnati, Ohio, Larry Laron Brewster of Greensboro, NC, and Amaiya, Alora, Michael Jr., Harmony, Dean, and AJ from Arizona and Utah, as well as Cara Victoria Rosalie Begley. Additionally, Janie’s great-great- grandchild is Larry Laron Brewster, Jr. of Greensboro, NC.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025, 12:00 pm at Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel 909 East Market Street at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home Greensboro, North Carolina.
Interment Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery 3600 North O'Henry Boulevard Greensboro, North Carolina.
Ms Janie L. Johnson as I known her to be, Ms Janie was my Mom and Dad's dear friend of their time. Ms. Janie from Cincinnati Ohio, lived her life. Ms Janie was strong direct and humourous, she handled her business. I remember so many memories of her in Cincinnati Ohio, it would take a week to post it I'ma say this, Ms. Janie L. Johnson Milton was a woman of strength and Perseverance. I was around Ms Janie since I was five years old, I'm now 61. I missed her when she left to move in NC, but she always found time to come back to Cincinnati. RIP Ms Janie L Johnson Milton, you're missed from Cincinnati Ohio love Michelle.
