Obituary For Joseph Tisdale

Mr. Joseph Tisdale, passed away Monday. July 25, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held Monday, July 31, 2023 at 12 pm St. Phillip AME Zion Church 1330 Ashe Street Greensboro, NC. 11:30 am Visitation. Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens 5710 Riverdale Dr. Jamestown, NC.

Mr. Joseph Tisdale (Joe), son of the late Jacob and Lula Wilson Tisdale, was born on May 18, 1935, in Trio, SC. He attended the Williamsburg County Public School System and was employed with Bonitz, Inc. He left his position at Bonitz and became self-employed working on cars full time. He would eventually become owner and operator of T & T's Garage and McCollough Street Grocery convenient store. For a man with a small amount of education, Mr. Tisdale accomplished a lot in his lifetime.

He was united in holy matrimony to the late Juanita Morant Tisdale of Lane SC on November 29, 1957, where they remained as one for thirty-five years until her untimely death on August 11, 1993.

Mr. Tisdale was a man of many hobbies but buying, restoring, and rebuilding motorcycles, cars, and trucks was his passion. Repairing cars was not just love, it was life! He had a collection of vintage cars, trucks, and motorcycles that was admired by all. He was a member of the King Cobras Motorcycle Club of Greensboro, NC and the Black Freemasons of NC. He enjoyed traveling and living life to the fullest. He was a mentor and teacher to so many and gave stern advice to those who really needed a dose of reality. He continued to be active after retiring and selling his businesses until his decline. He would succumb to his illnesses and depart from life peacefully at his home in Greensboro on the evening of Monday, July 24, 2023.

Mr. Tisdale was preceded in death by his siblings: Mr. Dan Tisdale, Mr. Lawrence Tisdale, Ms. Bertha Tisdale, Ms. Louvenia Tisdale, and Mrs. Ola Mae Izzard.

His full life and accomplishments will forever be cherished in the lives of his remaining beloved family including his sons: Mr. Bryant Morant of Lane, SC, Mr. Jerome Tisdale, Mr. Ivory Tisdale, and Mr. Kenneth Tisdale all of Greensboro, NC; daughters: Ms. Christine Green of Lane, SC, Ms. Veronica Tisdale of Greensboro, NC, and Mrs. Volire Tisdale-Brown of Willow Springs, NC; son-in-law: Mr. Kirk Brown of Willow Springs, NC; daughters-in-law: Mrs. Angela N. Tisdale and Ms. April King of Greensboro, NC; brothers: Mr. Calvin Tisdale of Greensboro, NC, and Mr. LeeVan Tisdale of Kingstree, SC; sisters: Ms. Louthenia McBride of Salters, SC, Mrs. Rebecca (Sam) Tisdale of Greeleyville, SC, Mrs. Alberta (Hayward) Tisdale, Mrs. Shirley (Wally) Gamble of Kingstree, SC, and Mrs. Levern (Malcolm) McCain of Greensboro, NC, 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
