Larry was born on December 10, 1944 to Douglas and Lillian Hughes. He was the ninth child in the family. Larry attended James B. Dudley High School where he received his high school diploma. He also attended GTCC where he studied machinery. Larry was drafted into the US Army in 1969 and served during the Vietnam war. He married Sandra Daye in 1966 and had three children, Tiffany (Chris), Allan, and Larry Jr. (deceased). He also had two grandchildren, Noel and Aleah Harris. Larry had a charismatic personality and was loved by many in the community. In his early adult years, he enjoyed fishing, biking, and long walks. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters out in the yard or at the beach. Larry is survived by his wife, Sandra Hughes, daughter, Tiffany Harris (Chris), son, Allan, three sisters, Doris Henderson, Mary Hughes-Denny, and Julia James (Mark), and one brother, John Hughes. He also had two granddaughters, Noel and Aleah Harris. Preceding his death was his son, Larry Jr., brothers, Douglas Jr. and Robert, sisters, Ivora and Perrie. Larry will be missed by his family, friends, and relatives
A public viewing will be held Friday, January 1, 2021 from 4pm-6pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. A private Funeral Service will be held Saturday January 2, 2021 at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
