Major Melvin London III, was born June 28, 1956 in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Rosa Wade London and the late Major Melvin London ,Jr.
He departed this life July 19, 2023, at Cone Hospital. Major is survived by his son, Major Melvin London IV
“Quad” of Whitsett, NC; his daughter, Tori Meagan of
Washington, DC; his sister, Adrienne (Hasker) Worthy, of
Greensboro; his step -brother, Bernard (Valerie) London,
Fredericksburg, VA. Major had four nephews who were very instrumental in his care during his residency in Raleigh and Lexington, KY : Julian (Emelia) London of Charlotte, Beatty Lee London of Charlotte. Justin (Jamie) London of Raleigh and Jonathan London of Atlanta, GA Major also enjoyed time spent with his great-nieces and
great-nephews, special cousin Derek (Angela) McClendon of Maryland and good friend Carey (Debbie) Meadows. Major recently reconnected with his buddies during the monthly lunch outings coordinated by Carey.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Judith Rose, and special cousins, Debra Gavin and Sitrena McClendon. Major lived with Judith in Raleigh until her passing in December 2012.
Major graduated from Ben L. Smith High School and would have celebrated his 50th class reunion in 2024. He attended Kittrell College and A&T University and had
worked at American Express prior to his stroke on 9/11/2001. If you knew Major, you knew he loved his
children, played tennis, loved photography, jazz, Prince,
basketball and was a Washington Redskins fan.
Major, you were loved, so keep the laughter going.
