Mary Anna Jackson, the daughter of the late Leo Jackson and Elizabeth Hannah Jackson was born in Marion, South Carolina on June 2, 1949. She completed her earthly assignment on the evening of May 10, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Mary attended James B. Dudley Sr. High School and graduated class of 1968. She retired with 11 years of service from the City of Greensboro. She was a legacy member of New Jerusalem Cathedral and traveled with the Bishop Frank Williams Choral Ensemble. Additionally, she served in the ministries of Greeters, Childrenโs Church, the Repass Committee, and the Bread of Life Food Pantry, and was an active member of Godโs Gift in Operation (GGO) at the time of her passing. She will be remembered for her youthful spirit.
Mary had a knack for making crafts, catching yard sales, and collecting elephants. She enjoyed caring for her fish and plants, as well as studying the Bible.
Mary was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Elijiah Hannah and Mary Ina Gause, and paternal grandmother Catherine Davis; aunts Corine Phillips and Lorene Phillips; uncles Grady, Edward, and Frank Hannah; siblings: Elijiah, Dozier Lee, Henry, Bernie, Annie Mae, Betty Jean, and Rev, Wilbert Jackson, Sr.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, Sherry Raleigh; grandchildren, Aaron and Jamiliah Bowen: sisters, Catherine and Carolyn Jackson; brother, Joseph Jackson Sr.; a host of special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, best friend, Betty Kirkpatrick, childhood friends, classmates, church family, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 1:30pm New Jerusalem Cathedral Church 1822 Sharpe Road Greensboro, North Carolina. 1pm Visitation. Burial will be Monday, May 20, 2024 11am Forest Lawn Cemetery 3910 Forest Lawn Dr. Greensboro, North Carolina.
