Maurice Kobla Kpeglo January 4, 1949 – October 30, 2022
On October 30, 2022, Dr. Maurice Kobla Kpeglo passed away at the age of 73. He was a loving husband and father who worked for decades as a physician in Greensboro, North Carolina. He graduated from Guilford College in 1977 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 1983. Kobla worked as an E.R. doctor at various hospitals in North Carolina before opening First Aid Emergency Clinic in Greensboro where he served community members for 20 years.
He was born in Ghana, West Africa to the late Gilbert Kpeglo and the late Margaret Lawton Kpeglo. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jacqueline Jeffries Kpeglo and their two daughters, Enyonam Kpeglo Williams (Daniel) and Senadzi Kafui Kpeglo-Halley (Evan). He will also be remembered by three grandchildren who called him “Papa”: Jacqueline Halley, 7, Daniel Williams, Jr., 5, and Leah Halley, 4. His remaining siblings, Beryl Esi Agbley (Kofi), Doris Esi Kpeglo, and David Kofi Kpeglo (Stephanie), will cherish his memory, along with his uncle, Apostle (Brigadier-General retired) Albert Tehn-Addy, his sister-in-law, Yvonne J. Johnson, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will greet friends at his wake on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home in Greensboro. There will be a Ghanaian Celebration of Life on Saturday evening (Nov. 12) from 8:00 p.m. to midnight at The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club located at 1001 Freeman Mill Road, Greensboro, NC 27406.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro with visitation at 1:30 p.m. and the service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
The family will hold an interment on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park.
