We come to celebrate the life of Pauline Steele Mack, born November 14, 1939, in Montgomery County, to the late Lacy Steele Sr. and Elesteen Pankey Steele. She was called home on Monday, August 14, 2023 to be with her Lord and Savior. Surrounded by loved ones, she fought a good battle.
Pauline attended public schools in Montgomery County until she moved to Greensboro, NC, at an early age. There, she attended James B. Dudley High School, where she graduated.
After graduating, she was self-employed as a domestic worker. She loved gardening, decorating, and growing beautiful flowers in her yard. Her yard in Greensboro was placed in the Daily News and Better Home Magazine for its beauty.
Pauline became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, which she loved dearly. She was an usher, helper in the kitchen, and many other duties that needed to be filled. She even put beautiful flowers in the sanctuary while her health was good.
Pauline was loved by many and will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her loving husband: Isaac Mack, Jr.; one sister: Hattie Steele James; and three brothers: Lacy Steele, Jr., Peter Steele, and Frank Steele.
Pauline leaves cherished and loving memories to one sister: Mary Steele Woods of Livingston, NJ; one sister-in-law: Della Steele of Mt. Gilead, NC; family members that were taken under her wings: Nola Lewis (Larry), Myra Mitchell (Joel), Leenard James (Inez), all of Greensboro, NC; and Richard Woods (Monet) of Livingston, NJ; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
We the family would like to thank all that sent cards, visited, made phone calls, and especially sent prayers during Pauline’s illness. She will be missed by all but not forgotten. Again, we say “Thank You.”

Ms. Pauline. You were a beacon of light. I've known you all of my life. You provided comfort to me when my mother passed last year. Most importantly you showed me unconditional love. You will be missed, but not forgotten.
