Phyllis Porter Martin, 77, of 1569 Lovett St. Greensboro, NC, passed away February 2, 2022 at Beacon House.
Phyllis was born the oldest of 8 children in Greensboro, NC on February 16, 1944, to the late Monsley L. and Lessie Raleigh Porter. She graduated from James B. Dudley High School in 1962. Phyllis received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Shaw University in 1996.
Phyllis worked as proof-reader for Greensboro Rubber Stamp Company for over twenty-five years before the company closed in the early 2000s. She was a dedicated member of Collins Grove United Methodist Church since joining in mid 1960s where she was a member of the Gospel Choir, a former trustee, and the church secretary. Phyllis served faithfully on the National Dudley High School Reunion Committee and the local Dudley H.S. Chapter. She was a former President of her beloved Dudley Class of 1962 and participated on many committees.
Phyllis remained friends with her ex-husband, Eddie Martin, and is survived by their four daughters, Eileen A. Martin, Andrea G. Kirkland (Lawrence), Monica C. Martin and Ashley M. Salamanca; special niece Lisa M McMillan; grandchildren Farrah A. Martin, Franchesca G. Martin, and Tristan E. Salamanca; great-grandchildren Kash A. Roman and Kobe A. Martin; sister Joannie Porter Hutton; brother Mark “Roger” Porter (Debra) and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by sisters Joyce Porter Sturdivant and Ruby Porter McMillan; brothers Monsley “Butch” Porter, Randolph “Randy” Porter, and Scottie Denard Porter.
The family will receive visitors at 3121 Colony Drive, Jamestown, NC 27282, and Family Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Chapel 909 E. Market Street Greensboro, NC from 4 pm – 6 pm on February 6, 2022. The Homegoing Service will be held at Collins Grove United Methodist Church, 5210 Collins Grove Church Road, Greensboro, NC at 1 pm on February 7, 2022.
A Viewing will be held in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 4 pm - 6 pm.
Interment: Collins Grove Cemetery.

Ms.phyllis you will definitely be missed,I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with you and become close to you. You was like another grandmother to me words can't express how much I will miss having our talks. To the family I am so sorry for your loss. Continue to rest on my feisty.
