My heart is deeply saddened by the passing of Uncle Rich. I send my heartfelt condolences to Aunt Coco, Leslie, Lynelle, and the entire family during this difficult time. These condolences are also extended on behalf of my mother, Iola McBroom, who shares in this loss with you.
Growing up, I had the privilege of witnessing the true meaning of friendship through my parents, the late Connie McBroom, and my mother, Iola, whose bond with Aunt Coco has remained unbreakable since their middle school years. Their love and commitment to one another set the foundation for something even greater, our families became more than just friends; we became family.
Through the years, that connection remained strong, whether it was celebrating birthdays, showing up for life's moments, or supporting one another at countless Aggie games. The love and loyalty they all shared are rare and beautiful, and Uncle Rich was such an integral part of that.
Aunt Coco, Leslie, and Lynelle, my heart is with you. I pray that you find comfort in the love surrounding you and in the cherished memories that will forever keep Uncle Rich's spirit alive.
With deepest sympathy and love, Lisa McBroom-Johnson, Iola W. McBroom, and Family.
Uncle Rich was always an encouraging spirit and joyful soul whenever he and Aunt Coco would come to visit my Grandparents on Sundays. There were so many lessons learned in those moments over the years. May God bless this family with peace and comforting memories. We will be sure to keep you all in our prayers.
Love, Kendal and Britney McBroom (Connie and Iola's Grandson)
Sending heartfelt condolences to the Lyons family at this difficult time. Mr. Lyons coached at the Stanford Jr. High in Hillsborough, NC when I was there. He and his wife were nice people. Praying for the family. Cherish the memories!
Words cannot adequately express the level of respect that I held for my Father In-Law, Mr. Richard Lyons. I will be forever grateful for the many talks we shared where you imparted valuable wisdom and sowed equally valuable nuggets of black manhood with a younger version of me. I thank you for being a steady and positive presence in the lives of your children, my children, and that of your grandchildren & great-grandchildren. It is because of you that I sit in the position of School Corporation Superintendent in Indiana, as you made "that phone call" way back in January 1992 that served as a springboard to my career in public school education.
Thank you, Sir.
Now take your rest. Job Well Done.
