Rose Carolyn “Judy” Norwood
November 27, 1946- December 4, 2025
As her name “Rose” suggests, Judy was one of God’s most spectacular flowers. She made a memorable impact on this earth!
Rose “Judy” Carolyn Norwood was born on November 27, 1946, in Lenoir, North Carolina at the picturesque foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. On Thursday, December 4, 2025, she peacefully passed away after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Judy was the last child born to her parents, Ella Bell Bryson Norwood Patterson who grew up in Gastonia, N.C. and James “Boy” Norwood II of Lenoir. Judy’s siblings, all of whom proceeded her in death, included: Katie Ann Norwood Patterson Booker, Betty Joe Lee Norwood Mervin and brother, James Lee “Butch” Norwood, III.
Judy married Burrell Brown. While they divorced years later, the couple raised their family in Lenoir, North Carolina, Newark, New Jersey and Greensboro, North Carolina. Together Judy and Burrell leave behind Burrell Brown IV his spouse (Crystal Lewis Brown); Darrell Brown and his Spouse (Tedra Anderson-Brown); Timothy Brown and his Spouse (Teresa H. Brown); Tyrone Brown (long-term partner, Wanya Williams), grandchildren Brittany Brown Shipp her spouse (Michael Shipp); Taylor Brown Johnson her spouse (Michael Johnson); Tiffany Starks; Burrell Brown V his spouse (Taylor Snider Brown); Erica Strayhorn, Courtnie Edwards, Teri Crews; Tori Brown; Tymon Brown; and a host Great Grandchildren: Malachi and Nehemiah Starks; Niylah and Kalena Shipp; Justin, Jade, and Jordyn Johnson; Emerie Edwards and Ava Strayhorn, and Luka, Zania, Hasani, Noel and Lorenzo.

Homegoing Service Friday, December 19, 2025 11am Providence Baptist Church 1106 Tuscaloosa Street Greensboro, North Carolina. Visitation 10:30am.
