Veronica Faye Sprueil, 71, of Greensboro, North Carolina completed her earthly journey and transitioned peacefully on December 3, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born May 17, 1951 in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was the firstborn child of John Thomas (JT) Sprueil and Vera Coley Sprueil, who both preceded her in death.
Faye was raised in Summerfield, North Carolina and educated in the Guilford County School System. She attended Laughlin School in Summerfield, North Carolina and graduated from Northwest High School, Greensboro, North Carolina in 1969. After high school graduation, she pursued her interest in business and technology and earned an Associate Degree.
Faye’s employment included Wachovia Bank, Burlington Industries, and American Express. She found her niche in retail sales and made it her final career choice. Faye worked for Hecht’s which later became Macy’s and November 2019 she retired from Macy’s. After retirement she was a devoted daughter and worker as one of the primary caregivers for her mother.
Faye accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child and was baptized at Fairgrove Missionary Baptist Church. She served diligently there for many years and was a member of the Sunshine Band, Youth Choir, Young Adult Choir, and Usher Board.
She loved cooking and baking and was known for her special cakes that she made for family birthdays and for special occasions. Faye enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, and dining out or home dinners with family and friends. Faye was blessed with the gift of a prolific memory which will be missed, as she was the family’s go to person for details of past dates and events that occurred from childhood until now.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Sprueil Warren; maternal grandparents, Thomas Coley and Maggie Lewis Coley; and paternal grandparents, Robert A. Sprueil and Annie B. Atkinson Sprueil.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her brother, John Thomas Sprueil II; sisters, Linda S. Shoffner, Greensboro, North Carolina, Glenda S.
