Virginia Mary Ellen Covington, affectionately known and deeply loved by her family and friends, was born on March 12, 1943, in Greensboro, North Carolina. She entered into eternal rest at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith.
Virginia was educated in the Greensboro school system, attending Washington Street Elementary School and graduating from James B. Dudley High School. A faithful and dedicated member of Greater Faith, she lived her life with devotion—both to God and to the family she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Covington; her mother, Dorothy Williamson; her brothers, Robert and Charles Williamson; her sister, Mary Ruth Williamson; and her grandson, Scenario Williamson.
Virginia was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was found in her family, and she poured her heart into nurturing each generation with warmth, wisdom, and encouragement. She loved crossword puzzles, and she was well known for her cooking and baking—always ready to bless family, friends, and anyone in need with a home-cooked meal or a delicious treat.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her daughter, Robin Sykes Spruiell and Vincent Spruiell, son, Richard Williamson Sr, her sister, Diane Williamson; her grandchildren Donna Williamson, Donnel and Janette Sykes Jr., Richard Williamson Jr., D’Andrea Williamson, and Dillion and Abril Sykes; her great-grand children, Kiarre Williamson, Aneesha Davis, Tremonte Davis, Brianna Davis, Brittany Davis, Remi Williamson, and Leia Sykes; her great-great grandsons, Noah Williamson and Bryson Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.
Virginia’s life was a reflection of kindness, faith, and resilience. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched and the love she poured into her family.

To the entire Williamson family- so sorry to hear the loss of your mother (Richard). God bless y'all.
I can still see myself riding the bus beside you, as I tagged along to work. Those trips to Woolworths will always be magical—simple moments that felt like the biggest adventures just because you were by my side holding my hand.
Grandma you taught me so much, not just in words but through the way you loved. You showed me how to cook with love, patience, and pride, turning even the simplest meals into lessons. You kept me active in church from a young age, planting seeds of faith that will follow me my whole life.
Your impact is woven into who I am. Your love was steady, your guidance gentle yet straight forward , and her presence unforgettable. Though our hearts are heavy, I'm grateful for every moment, every lesson, and every memory she gave me.
May you rest in peace, and may we find comfort in knowing you live on through the love you poured into all of us. I will miss you my sweet lady.
Rest in heaven, you will truly be missed. Love Tia
