Adrian Petite Sr., 65, of Eden, NC died January 4, 2021. Public viewing will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Perry Spencer Funeral Home Chapel, Eden, NC. The family will have a private service on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. LIVESTREAM WILL BE AVAILABLE
On January 4, 2021, Adrian Kent Petite, Sr., departed this life to be with his Savior and his wife. He was born December 3, 1955 in Pittsburg, PA. Adrian, better known as Kent, was the last of four sons born to the late Oscar Jerome Petite and Bertha Jones Petite. He attended the Pittsburgh Public Schools, graduating in 1974 from Fifth Avenue High School. While in high school, Kent was a trumpet player and was a member of the Fifth Avenue high school band and orchestra. He was a member of the All City High School Band. After school, he received his journeyman's certificate, worked under several electricians as an apprentice and later he received his electrician's license. He was employed and retired from Starr Electric, where he was a Project Manager/Estimator in 2020. His family were lifelong members of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church where Kent was baptized as an infant and was confirmed on May 17, 1970. After moving to Eden, NC, Kent became a member of Sunny Home Baptist Church where he was a member of the Male Chorus and the Gospel Choir. In 1973, he met Brenda Broadnax and on December 15, 1979, in New London, CT, the two wed. From this union, two children, Adrian Kent Petite, Jr., and LaKeisha Bianca Petite. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Brenda K. Petite, sister, Lavaughn Hartwell and brother, Phillip R. Petite.
Kent leaves to cherish his memories: son; Adrian K. Petite, Jr. (Angela), daughter; LaKeisha B. Petite (Joseph), known as Papi by his grandchildren, Anyia Wade, Makayla Petite and Joseph Smith, III and godchildren, Lisa Duncan, Amber Duncan and Anyiah Casey, brothers; Oscar Petite (Sheila) and Stanley Petite (Brenda), sisters-in-law; Nancy Pendelton and Adrienne Petite, brothers-in-law; Fred Broadnax, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Riley Arnold. Although he only had 2 children, Kent was known as Pops, BK or Big Kent to many. He was that father figure that many went to for guidance.
