Andrew Dillard, 81 of Yanceyville, NC passed Monday, October 7, 2024. The family will receive friends, Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, 511 Henry Street Eden, NC with the “Celebration of Life” beginning at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Hairston’s Cemetery, 174 Shady Grove Road, Eden, NC.
Andrew Dillard, 81 of Yanceyville, was born April 03, 1943, to James Ruffin Dillard and Pearl Ruth (Woods) Dillard from Ruffin, NC. He passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024. Andrew was educated at Rockingham County public schools and attended Booker T. Washington High School. He grew up on a farm and was employed at Ford Dealership as a car detailer and he worked as a textile worker. In his spare time, he was a fisherman, gardener, worked on cars and lawn mowers.
He had a love for American muscle cars. The rowing engine always brought a smile to his face, and it would strike up a conversation with endless stories of racing his and his ex-wife’s cars. In his mind he had the fastest car around. He had a love for racing cars and was a Duke fan. His passion and humor were priceless. He also had a strong love for gardening and fishing. He could bring your grass to life and make home repairs.
Andrew and his sister, Shirley had a cooking relationship, his baby brother, Donald had a close bond and his brother William (deceased) adventurous relationship. His older brother, Nelson (deceased) was a Sheriff, and they had a brother/friend mentor relationship.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His ex-wife, Betty Dillard and children: Andrea Manning, Clement Dillard, Fredrick Dillard (deceased, Timothy Dillard, Leon Dillard, Delwin Dillard and Carlyle Dillard along with siblings, Donald Dillard (Barbara) and Shirley McCollum, sister-in-law, Barbara Dillard, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brother Dillard (Barbara), Nelson Dillard, brother-in-law; Lawson McCollum (Shirley) and son; Fredrick Dillard.
