Barbara Martin, 82 of Walnut Cove, NC passed Friday, December 26, 2025. The family will receive friends, Friday, January 02, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. โ1:00 p.m. at Pine Hall Baptist Church. The โCelebration of Lifeโ will begin at 1:00 p.m. with interment following at church cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Thursday, January 01, 2026, from 12:00 p.m.โ 5:00 p.m., at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home 402 Short Avenue, Madison, NC.
On Friday, December 26, 2025, God's heavenly angles came down to claim one of his own. Barbara Jean Martin was born to the late Alice Joyce on April 15, 1943.
She received her education in Stokes County where she graduated from London School in Walnut Cove, NC. She worked in the textile industry for most of her life and later retired from Unifi in Madison, NC. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Barbara loved to sing in the choir and working in the church until her health began to decline. She loved her late pastor, Rev. Richard Lowery, his loving wife Mrs. Betty Lowery, Rev. Kalvin Edwards and First lady Edwards. Barbara loved growing plants, singing , crossword puzzles and watching her soap operas. Barbara never met a stranger and would do anything she could to help you.
She was preceded in death by the late Reginald Martin, Jr., Godmother, Jenny Scales and son-in-law, Kenneth Thompson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters; Carlotta Welch of Walnut Cove, NC and Stephanie Thompson (Kenneth) of Winston Salem, NC. Three sons; Dwayne Martin (Alvira), James Martin and Bryan Martin of Walnut Cove, NC. One stepson, Tyrone Calloway (Ashley) of Kernersville, NC. Eight grandchildren and two great=grandchildren. Two sisters, Virginia Webster (David) and Lucille Joyce of Winston Salem, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
