Bertha Jumper Johnson, 68 of Reidsville, NC passed Friday, June 6, 2025. Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home 511 Henry Street, Eden, NC. Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Broadnax Family Cemetery, Cascade, VA.

Bertha Jumper Johnson was born December 21, 1956 in Reidsville, NC to the late John Thomas and Vickie Jumper. She departed this life on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Blumenthal Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro, NC.

Bertha was a native of Rockingham County for many years before moving to Virginia. She worked at Spray Cotton Mill for over 20 years as a spinning operator. For the last 20 plus years Bertha worked as a dedicated home health aide providing compassionate care to those in need. She was driven by a passion to help others and believed the world could always use one more kindhearted person. She was known for her commitment to ensuring the comfort and well-being of her clients. Bertha’s loving spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, especially her family. Her family was her world and she poured her love into every relationship she had. With a heart full of joy and a spirit of adventure Bertha lived each day to the fullest. Her love for life was contagious.

Along with her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her brother, John Thomas Jumper, Jr., sister, Louise Jumper Surratt and Annie Scales.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her daughter; Melissa Renee Broadnax of Reidsville, NC, her bonus daughter; Norma Abbott, sister,Jennie Jumper Carter of Reidsville, NC. Brother; Allen Robert Jumper of Eden, NC and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Jumper. Two grandchildren; Datwan and Taliyah Broadnax, two great grandsons; Bryce Jr. Sprague and Azhar Fisher, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
