Bivian Hairston, 86 of Mayodan, NC passed Thursday, December 26, 2024. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Perry - Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 12 Noon at Mt. Carmel Holiness Church, 703 Mt. Carmel St., Madison, NC. The Celebration of Life will begin at 12 Noon with burial following at Collins Cemetery, Madison, NC.
On Thursday, December 26, 2024, Bivian Hairston peacefully transitioned into the arms of Jesus at UNC Rockingham Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Eden, NC. Bivian was born on May 21, 1938, to the late Samuel Hairston, Sr. and Wilder Mae Thomas Hairston. Bivian was affectionately known by his family and friends simply as “Billy Boy.” Bivian attended Henry County Schools, and upon entering adulthood he moved to San Diego, CA. He later moved to Jacksonville, FL where he worked at Sawgrass Country Club, for more than 19 years until his retirement. In 2013 Bivian moved back to Madison, NC, and joined Mt Carmel Pentecostal Holiness Church under the leadership of Bishop James W. France, where he served faithfully until his health declined. He was a faithful member of the Usher’s Ministry and served joyfully working for the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his brother Samuel Hairston, Jr.; sisters, Shirleen Largin, and Lois Norman. He was preceded in death also by four brothers-in-law, Melvin Largin, Quincy Norman, Early N. Moore, and recently by Rev. Dr. Louis B. Simmons.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters – Mother Hazel Moore, Madison, NC, Elder Olivia Simmons, Martinsville, VA, and Patricia Hairston, Bassett, VA. Two brothers, James Hairston (Lola) of Eden, NC, Lonnie Hairston, Kingston, New York, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends who loved him dearly.
