The family will receive friends at the Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 12:30 p.m. -1:00 p.m. with the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Salisbury National Cemetery 501 Statesville Blvd . Salisbury, NC.

Donald Gerome Watson, age 75, of Eden, North Carolina peacefully passed away on January 15, 2026, in Eden, North Carolina. He lived a life marked by resilience, service, creativity and quiet determination. Donald was born on October 22, 1950, Elkhorn, West Virginia.
In his early years his family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he spent much of his youth. He was the son of the late Priscilla Perkins Watson and Elijah Samuel Watson, his stepfather who lovingly raised him, His biological father was Jun Vigh. Donald was also preceded in death by his sister, Veretta Dean Clemons. He also had four other siblings; Curtis Perkins, Linda Jean Holland, Larry Watson and Thomas Watson.
Donald attended John F. Kennedy High School in Cleveland, Ohio and later continued his education at Rockingham County Community College in Eden, North Carolina. There, he earned certification both his mechanical aptitude and disciplined work ethic. A proud veteran, Donald honorably served in the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam. His military service stood as a defining chapter of his life, shaping his strength, perseverance and sense of duty. Following his service, Donald worked for Procter & Gamble until a back injury altered the course of his professional career. Undeterred, he adopted using his technical skills to fix computers as a side business, always finding ways to remain productive. Beyond work, Donald was a deeply creative soul. Drawing was his true passion and he possessed a remarkable talent for art.
Donald was previously married to Vanessa Watson. Prior to his marriage he shared meaningful companionship with Barbara White and Barbara Watson, both of whom preceded him in death. As Donald's health declined, Jacqueline Adams and Bro. Hayes, cared for him faithfully until his last day.
Donald Gerome Watson will be remembered as a man of quiet strength and artistic spirit - one who served his country, loved his family and left a lasting impression through his actions.

I am so sorry to of Donald's passing his daughter Dawn Watson is my niece. I met Donald in 1971 he was quiet and so sweet. Donald I Love You and even though its been years I Will Miss You.
